This is what you should study for the final quiz you will be taking this semester:

1. PowerPoints and lecture notes for Weeks 13 and 14, the lectures titled “A Union in Peril: The Sectional Crisis of the Early Nineteenth Century, 1820-1861″ and “A Nation Divided: The War Between the States, 1861-1865.”

2. I had to rush through a little of the Civil War lecture, so there are a few slides I didn’t discuss. Those slides included a discussion of contrabands (fugitive slaves fleeing to Union lines) and the text of the Emancipation Proclamation. For those slides, use these short Internet sources to study; Manning’s book and the documentary spoke about these subjects so they should already sound familiar:

3. The locations (using a modern political map) of the following U.S. states for the map quiz: Massachusetts, New York, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, California, and Oregon.
